In the historic halls of the Honolulu Scottish Rite, the 2024 Feast of Kadosh unfolded on the evening of January 18, 2024. Guided by the Honorable Brother Dino J. Fernandez, KCCH, who serves as the Commander of the Council of Kadosh, this gathering marks one of the three significant days recommended for all Scottish Rite Masons, akin to the revered Feast of Tishri.
The “Feast of Kadosh” is more than a ceremonial event; it’s a sacred time for Scottish Rite Masons to commemorate and renew their commitment to the purposes and principles embedded in the chivalric degrees of the Council of Kadosh. The term “Kadosh,” meaning “holy” or set apart, calls upon Knights Kadosh to distinguish themselves, striving to embody holiness in their actions. It’s an opportunity to reflect on the teachings of the craft and recognize The Great Architect of the Universe as the creator and guiding force in their lives.
At the heart of the Feast of Kadosh lies the inspiring story of Jacques DeMolay, the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar. DeMolay’s life serves as a poignant reminder of the virtues embedded in the concept of Kadosh. He sacrificed himself in martyrdom, leaving an indelible mark on the annals of history. His legacy becomes a beacon, guiding Knights Kadosh to embody honor, courage, and selflessness in their own lives.
The roots of the Honolulu Council of Kadosh stretch deep into history, with its charter granted on July 12, 1875. The inaugural Commander, William C. Parke, stood as a figure of distinction, serving as the Marshal of the Kingdom of Hawaii for an impressive thirty-four years. During his tenure, he rendered service to five of Hawaii’s Kings, leaving an enduring legacy of commitment to both Masonic principles and the Kingdom.
